Lorton Rainfall Aug. 27 - Sep. 2: Get Ready For A Wet Week Ahead!

Daily rainfall totals for previous 24 hours measured at 6am from my rain gauge in Lorton.

Lorton Rainfall Aug. 27 - Sept. 2, 2012

Hurricane Isaac came ashore near New Orleans last week and proceeded into the Midwest and up the Ohio River valley.  Much of the area where it rained last week is experiencing a drought, so from that perspective the water was welcome.  We could use some rain as well and the remnants of Isaac should blend with an unsettled weather pattern to provide us a wet week.  The National Weather Service’s Hydrometeorological Prediction Center is forecasting over three inches of rain for us this week.

This was another good week for our area rain-wise. I’m thinking about fall maintenance for my lawn, and the rain is welcome.  My rain gauge in Lorton recorded the following precipitation at 6am on the day indicated for the previous 24 hours:

Date Precip Mon 08/27/2012 1.27” Tue 08/28/2012 0.00” Wed 08/29/2012 0.00” Thu 08/30/2012 0.00” Fri 08/31/2012 0.00” Sat 09/01/2012 0.00” Sun 09/02/2012 0.13” Weekly Totals : 1.40”
