Lorton Rainfall Feb. 11-17, 2013; Snow?

Last week and here, my rain gauge in Lorton recorded the following precipitation at 6am on the day indicated for the previous 24 hours:

It’s been over 720 days since Dulles airport had it’s last snowfall of more than 2 inches.  Since records began being kept at Dulles in Nov 1962, there never has been such a dearth of snow.  You may remember the last significant snowfall of 7.28” on 1/26/2011 - it stuck during the afternoon rush hour and it took many folks hours to get home.  The next longest stretch without a snowfall over 2” at Dulles was between 1/8/1999 (when 3.82” fell) and 1/9/1997 (when 3.50” fell) - a stretch of 698 days.  If we don’t get any significant snow for the rest of the winter, we have a good chance of extending this stretch to over 1,000 days by next Thanksgiving - certainly possible.
