Summer Art Party on the Quad

Engage all of your senses with this fun and social artistic experience!

Come play with us at the Workhouse Arts Center during our free, campus-wide celebration. The Summer Art Party on the Quad will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 11am-3pm. We will be opening our doors to the public to share what the Workhouse Arts Center is and showcase all of the programs we have available as well as the creative spirit in our community.  

Some highlights include:

• Feel the burn with the Sentara Healthcare Fitness Walk, which will be led by our Art of Movement Director, Lesley Spalding, who is Reebok Body Walk trained.  
• Participate by decorating a visor for the Community Runway Show, making and flying a kite, or joining our Community Pillow Fight!
• Story time can be for all ages! Listen to Storytelling for Grownups or Children’s Snickerdoodle Story Time. Additionally, if you have ever tried to make your own natural facial mask or used licorice for a cough, you will be entertained by listening to Jo Sellers teach about herbs and their fascinating and funny uses throughout history. Speaking of history, you can learn about the history of the Workhouse and its contribution to women’s rights at the History Corner.
• Meet exhibitors that will be on location such as Occoquan’s new brain teasing Puzzle Palooza Etc.and Gunston Animal Hospital.
• Luckily, you won’t have to wait for another visit to view our 360 Degrees of Post-Traumatic Stress exhibit created by military veterans because the opening reception will be at 2:30pm!
• Are you worried you will be famished from all of the excitement? Fortunately, there will be food vendors such as Uncle Fred’s BBQ Smoke Shack and Rita’s Woodbridge at the party.

With these activities, food and more, guests will be sure to find something educational and entertaining for the whole family. See you there!
