PechaKucha: An Evening of Creativity

Explore passions and ideas this Saturday at the Workhouse!

The Workhouse is partnering with Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association (LRPRA) on Saturday, June 15 at 7pm for a unique opportunity for expression and exploration. The evening will include different presentations on a variety of subjects. The catch: each presentation will use 20 images in total, and each image will be shown for 20 seconds.

This format is called PechaKucha 20X20, and it gives creative people an outlet to showcase their stories, ideas, and interests in a brief and engaging way. The format was created by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, who hosted the first PechaKucha night in Tokyo in 2003. Since then, PechaKucha nights have grown exponentially, with nights taking place in 500 cities around the world.

The concept of these nights is simple: it’s a place for ideas. Presenters get to share their passions, while audience members get to learn something new, become inspired by a story, or even discover a new passion of their own. The setting is an informal, comfortable atmosphere that differs from that of a typical work presentation and gives everyone a chance to relax and learn about a range of fascinating topics.

The Workhouse, along with LRPRA, will host its own FREE PechaKucha night this Saturday at 7pm! The night will feature an assortment of presentations, including My First International Artist Residency, Kuehlungsborn, Germany by Denise Philipbar, Transformation in Six Minutes by Ned Hogan, and Pathways Alisha Anderson.
