Escape the holiday madness and get a head-start on the wish list from your friends and family!

Black Friday at the Workhouse Arts Center

Are you dreading the fight through crowded malls and endless lines this Black Friday? Are you worried about not being able to find the perfect unique gifts for your loved ones? Are you seeking to avoid all the holiday stress? If this sounds like you, then come out to the Workhouse this Black Friday to escape the madness and get a head-start on the wish list from your friends and family!

On November 23, from 9am to 7pm, the Workhouse campus is yours to explore with a wide variety of artist demos and workshops, as well as special Black Friday deals for you to take advantage of. Here are just a few highlights of the Black Friday experience at the Workhouse:

  • 30X30: 30 Works in 30 Days will be on display in the McGuireWoods Gallery. This exhibition has challenged artists to create 30 small works in 30 days, keeping within a theme and using the same medium for the entire body of work. Join us for a public opening reception from 5-7pm, where you can enjoy light refreshments and get to a chance to meet the artists
  • In the Vulcan Gallery, the Workhouse Artist Associates have a variety of small works on display and will be hosting several artist demonstrations throughout the day. Hand-made ornaments will be for sale throughout the day.
  • The Art of Movement program will be offering free classes and demonstrations in tai chi, pilates equipment and hula. There is also an exclusive new student discount of 15% off group classes, good only on in-person registrations during Black Friday.
  • The Workhouse Farmers Market vendors will be on site from 11am-3pm, with a wide variety of produce, meats, baked goods and more!
  • Ceramics glass demonstrations will be happening throughout the day.
  • Shop local! Over 100 Workhouse Artists throughout our campus have created endless works of art in all sizes, mediums and price ranges. You will be able to find that perfect for gift for everyone on your list!
