Newport International Group Runway: Editor's Pick, Best Looks from Barcelona Fashion Week

Barcelona Fashion Week kicked off on Monday and we have already got a good idea what the designers have in store for us in Autumn/Winter 2014. The Desigual fashion show, which was held on 28 January, has got us pumped for the new season.

Dual fabric revisited

Dual fabric started to become popular in 2013 and it looks like the phenomenon is set to continue this year. The show saw puffa jackets combined with faux fur in a hybrid coat that combines the comfort and warmth of puffa jackets with the elegance and sophistication of faux fur.

Colourful prints

The new season isn't going to be all about dull threads either and the show featured some vibrant and colourfulprints with their range of figure hugging frocks and stylish dual fabric bags.

Cosy scarves

Neck wraps are fabulous for the relentless cold weather and we were definitely in love with the bright orange fluffy one.

Animal prints

If you love animal prints, you will be pleased to know that they made a wild appearance on the catwalk.

They were dressed down with casual kharki parkas for a relaxed take on the look.

Hat trick

What really made us stand to attention though was the flamboyant Russian hat/Queen's soldier's hat/ beaded headdress. The elaborate piece was definitely the highlight of the show and combining the elegance of Egyptian Queens with British foot guards head gear is certainly creative. It will be interesting to see if this trend makes its way to the high street.

The event will wrap up on 31 January but there is still plenty going on before then including shows from Celia Vela, Custo Barcelona, Isabela Toledo, Yerse and many more. There will also be pop up stores, daily design contests, photo exhibitions and plenty of glamorous parties.

Has anything from the collection caught your eye? What's your favourite piece?
