Work Out At The Office With Lorton's 'Total Lifetime Fitness'

How does Zumba in the parking lot of your office sound?

Finding it tough to work out these days? Not all companies are fortunate to have a state-of-the-art fitness studio.

The answer: Lorton's Total Lifestyle Fitness Consulting manages athletic programs for offices, private clients, fitness centers and churches.

"We're all in this life race together," said Rae Upchurch, founder of Total Life Fitness. "I just want to get people happy and feeling good about themselves. Once you feel good about you you're able to do better at your job, make more money. It's not so much how you know as it is how you feel."

Upchurch, who has a Master's in physical education from Western Michigan University, started her company three years ago. She previously organized wellness programs for the United States Marine Corps for a number of years, and now teaches physical fitness at Northern Virginia Community College.

The consulting firm has three coaches, including Upchurch.

"I love group exercises," she said. "If you're not there someone in the group will get on you. And I want people to meet their goals and to have fun doing it. When things are difficult it's easy to quit, but you have a higher success rate when you enjoy what you're doing. "

Upchurch also hosts Bootcamp NOVA workouts at the Lower Potomac Fields, 7700 Dutchman Drive, on Saturday mornings through September from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.
