Patterson Named Lorton Community Action Center's Interim Exec. Director
The position will be filled in February
Linda Patterson, a seven-year veteran of the Lorton Community Action Center, has been chosen as the nonprofit's interim executive director. The LCAC, which gives food, clothing and other assistance to hundreds of needy Lorton families, plans to have the position filled by February.
"I'm very familiar with the Lorton community, the clients we serve and the needs of Lorton," Patterson told Patch. "Right now with our holiday outreach we've signed up 217 families with assistance for Thanksgiving and holiday food and gifts. We also have almost 460 children that we are assisting with holiday gifts and for each child we hope to provide two gifts. So, we'll need almost 1,000 gifts that could make the holidays a joyous one for these children."
Lynn Swogger is the LCAC’s Board President. “The Board’s Search Committee is hoping to have the next permanent Executive Director in place by the beginning of the 2012," she said. "In the meantime, we are confident in Ms. Patterson’s ability to lead the organization and help ensure a smooth transition.”
Patterson's career includes time as director of operations at PMK Associates and vice president of operations at the Mack Crounse Group. Her work at LCAC began in 1999 as the agency’s first Food Pantry Manager and then as Director of Emergency Services. She is married, has two teenagers and lives in Alexandria.
Patterson said the LCAC's recently vacated deputy director position will not be filled. "The LCAC, to be honest, in previous years did not have a deputy director," she said. "Jackie Dash, the manager of client services, is now doing the role of oversight assistance to families we serve, and she's been on board for six months."
