Lorton Bloom Will Convert to Food Lion

Shoppers who get their groceries at , 77620 Gunston Plaza Dr., will soon see a change—the headquarters company announced today that the grocery store will convert to a Food Lion.

The parent company, Delhaize America, announced that it will retire the Bloom brand.

"We believe the stores will better meet customer needs through low prices and quality products," said spokeswoman Christy Phillips-Brown.

Customers will be able to register for an MVP card to get further discounts at Food Lion.

The company is closing 113 "under-performing" Food Giant stores, as well as seven Bloom stores nationally. Food Lion will ultimately operate in 10 states and have 1,127 stores.

Store conversions are expected to begin immediately, with no disruption of service, the company noted.

A call to the Lorton store number was answered on Thursday by a recording: "Welcome to Bloom."
