Last Chance: See Peter Pan and Captain Hook at the Workhouse Arts Center

Vianlix Mestey's plays are a hit!

Saturday afternoons haven't been the same in Lorton since Vianlix Mestey entered the scene. The writer/director/producer is currently transporting a sold-out theatre full of children and parents to Neverland in her latest production "Peter Pan and Captain Hook in the Fairies' Land".

In the show, the clock to Neverland is winding down, and Captain Hook and Peter Pan are forced to work together to maintain their carefree and adventurous lifestyles.

"Every performance has been sold out for most of our shows," said Mestey to Patch. "We're having a blast."

Mestey, who owns Mestey Films Productions in Woodbridge, was introduced to the Workhouse last year when she visited to see a children's play with her 10-year-old daughter.

"It's an amazing experience to hear kids laugh here," she said. "When you write children's plays you have to have principals and morals in them. They need to see what's right and wrong."

Mestey approached the Workhouse last fall after a lack of funds forced the shutdown of its theatre operation. Her first production was "A Magical Christmas" in November, followed by "Sleeping Beauty: The Broken Spell" and "Cinderella: The True Story".

There are two Saturday's left to catch "Peter Pan and Captain Hook in the Fairies' Land". Showtime is 1:00 p.m., and due to popular demand, the show will have encore performances at 3:00 p.m.

(By the way, Mestey will be taking a break at the Workhouse until the Christmas production in November.)
