Here are some fun things to do in the Lorton area this weekend

It's the weekend and you're looking to have some fun. Patch can help with suggestions for activities in and around Lorton. 

  • When: Friday, Dec. 23, Saturday, Dec. 24, and Sunday, Dec. 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Alexandria
  • What: Themed Christmas trees, a gingerbread Mount Vernon, Aladdin the camel - who recreates a camel's visit to the estate during Christmas of 1787 - and chocolate-making demonstrations make for a festive seasonal celebration at George Washington’s home.
  • Cost: $15 for adults 12 and over, $14 for senior citizens, $7 for children ages 6 to 11 and free for 5 and younger.  

 A Christmas Carol

  • When:  Friday, Dec. 23, doors open at 6 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 25, doors open at 3 p.m.
  • Where: Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre, 10712 Richmond Highway, Lorton
  • What: Enjoy a dinner buffet followed by a performance of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.”
  • Cost: $41.95 for ages 16 and up, $35 for youths ages 11 to 15 and $25 for children 10 and younger.

George Mason University Men's Basketball

  • Where: George Mason University Patriot Center, Fairfax
  • What: Root on the George Mason men’s basketball team as they host Manhattan.
  • Cost:  $16 for adults, $9 for senior citizens and $8 for youths 18 and under. Add $2 more if purchased on day of game.
