Stars On Sunday: Quanitco Marine Band Jazz Combo

As part of the Stars on Sunday concert series, the Workhouse proudly presents performances from the Quantico Marine Band Jazz Combo and Fairfax Swing Band starting at 2pm on Sunday, June 12. This family friendly performance is FREE and will take place in the Performance Tent on the Workhouse Quad.

The Marine jazz and popular music combo provides musical support for military protocol and social functions throughout the national capital region as well as supporting recruiting operations throughout the United States. They offer a wide range of musical options that appeal to every generation of music lovers. This ensemble performs in smaller venues, playing styles such as latin, swing, bossa nova, samba, blues, and jazz ballads.

The Fairfax Swing Band is an ensemble of the City of Fairfax Band Association that consists of five saxophones, three trombones, four trumpets, a three-piece rhythm section and a vocalist. The band members come from a variety of careers and backgrounds -- from federal government employees, military personnel, and teachers to lawyers, accountants, engineers, and business executives. In the tradition of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and other big bands of the β€˜40s, the Fairfax Swing Band has been wowing audiences since 1989 with music from the big band era through today's contemporary sounds. They've performed with such celebrities as Richard Dreyfuss, Stephanie Powers and Sesame Street's Bob McGrath.
