Dazzling Dahlia by Terry Anstrom and Barbara Weber

Terry Anstrom invites you to welcome spring by viewing her watercolor painting, Dazzling Dahlia and other spring flowers in Building W-6 at the Workhouse Arts Center from May 11- June 5. She and Barbara Weber will be the featured artists for the show, "May Baskets, May Flowers." Although Terry has been painting for only 3 years, she has numerous honors. She was recently juried into the Potomac Valley Watercolorists and will be showing one of her floral paintings, Amaryllis, at the PWS Green Springs Art Show, April 26-June 26th. Her artwork, Ruffled Hibiscus, has been accepted into the Virginia Watercolor Society for its exhibition, from May 6-June 4 in Kilmarnock, VA.

May is the month when thoughts turn to spring, spring flowers, Mother's Day and looking ahead to summer.  May baskets are a traditional part of spring as well.  This month's featured artist, Barbara Weber, has included flowers in her woven baskets for this month's overall theme of "May Baskets, May Flowers."  Barbara works in both traditional and non-traditional styles of baskets.  She has been weaving baskets since 2002 and has won awards from the North Carolina Basketry Association and the Michigan Basketmakers Association.  She teaches both locally and nationally.  Barbara displays her baskets at the Workhouse Arts Center and Artists Undertaking Gallery in Occoquan, Virginia, as well as at craft shows throughout Northern Virginia.
