Cool Cow Stand-Up Comedy

  • Where: Workhouse Arts Center, Lorton
  • When: Friday, August 24 at 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Featuring comedians Randolph Terrance, Tim Miller and Andy Kline. Hosted by Rahmein Mostafavi.  For ages 18 and up.
  • Price: Tickets are $15

Ice Cream Making Demonstrations

  • Where: George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Alexandria
  • When: Saturday, August 25 from 10 a.m. - Noon
  • Why Go: Watch costumed staff create one of George Washington’s favorite desserts using period tools and equipment. Visitors will receive an adapted ice cream recipe to make at home.
  • Price: Estate admission is $15 for adults and $7 for kids ages 6 – 11

  • Where: Inova Alexandria Hospital (Howard Street Parking Lot), Alexandria
  • When: Saturday, August 25 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Learn about emergency safety from local police, firefighters and medical personnel.  Activities will include petting zoo, moon bounce, video games, face painting, snacks and more.
  • Price: FREE

The Illest Ingredients

  • Where: Wakefield Skatepark, Annandale
  • When: Saturday, August 25 from 5 – 11 p.m.
  • Why Go: Catch this skateboard and dance competition hosted by Urban Artistry. All ages and levels are welcome, and cash prizes will be awarded.
  • Price: Admission is $10

29th Annual Begonia Sale and Show

  • Where: Green Spring Gardens, Annandale
  • When: Saturday, August 25 from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 26 from Noon – 3:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Peruse a wide variety of begonias at this event sponsored by the Potomac Branch of the American Begonia Society.
  • Price: Admission is FREE

  • Where: Fairfax Station Railroad Museum, Fairfax Station
  • When: Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Why Go: This event honors Clara Barton and the medical evacuation of wounded soldiers through Fairfax Station during the Civil War.  
  • Price:  Outside activities are FREE; Museum admission is $5 for adults and $1 for kids ages 5 - 10

Pakistan Festival USA

  • Where: Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville
  • When: Sunday, August 26 from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Why Go: Celebrate Pakistan Independence Day with live performances, carnival games, moon bounce, Pakistani cuisine and more.
  • Price: Admission is FREE

Music on the Lawn

  • Where: Burke Presbyterian Church, Burke
  • When: Sunday, August 26 from 6 – 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Bring chairs, a blanket and a picnic dinner to enjoy during an outdoor performance by the musical group Over Under, Down Yonder.   
  • Price: FREE
