    Local Library Book Sales

    “Stuff the Bus” Food Drive
    • Where: , Lorton
    • When: Saturday, Jan. 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    • Why Go: The goal is to fill a Fastran bus with food to benefit local families in need.  All donations collected will go to the Lorton Community Action Center.  


    Tea Basics Seminar

    Find out what's happening in Lortonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

    • Where: , Annandale
    • When: Saturday, Jan. 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
    • Why Go:  Learn how to best select, brew, and savor teas from all over the world.  Taste a variety of ethnic finger foods, and take home samples of exotic teas and blends.  Ages 18 and up.
    • Price: $45 for Fairfax County residents; $60 for non-residents (advance registration required)

    Bird Feeding and Gardening
    • Where: , Alexandria
    • When: Saturday, Jan. 28 from 4 – 5:30 p.m.
    • Why Go: Learn from the professionals how to attract your favorite birds to your yard and garden.  Ages 18 and up.
    • Price:  $6 for Fairfax County residents; $8 for non-residents (advance registration required)

    Civil War Ball
    • Where: Gadsby’s Tavern, Alexandria
    • When: Saturday, Jan. 28 from 8 – 11 p.m.
    • Why Go: Spend an evening at an 1860’s era ball, complete with live music, dancing, and desserts.  Guests are encouraged to wear military or civilian Civil War period clothing.      
    • Price: Tickets are $45 (reservations required)

    Lucky Dog Animal Rescue Adoption Event
    • Where: , Annandale
    • When: Sunday, Jan. 29 from 12 – 2 p.m.
    • Why Go: Adoptable dogs will be at Petco this Sunday waiting to be matched up with the perfect companion.  Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about dogs or the adoption process.
