Tea at Pohick Church

A fashion show, tea and sandwiches

Last Saturday, the parish hall of Pohick Church was transformed into an English tea room. More than 100 people were hosted by the Historic Pohick Church Docents Guild, which brought china to set the tables and made delicious sandwiches and desserts.

The program included a fashion show with 18th century attire and a lesson in deportment for young volunteers. The visitors included members of the DAR, Christ Church, Mount Vernon, Woodlawn and Gunston Hall plantations.

The docents are now busy planning an all-day symposium to be held on May 12 featuring original 18th and 19th century clothing and accessories. Admission is $75 (lunch included). Docent led tours follow the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday services, and are available to groups as well by calling the church at (703) 339-6572.
