September Events at Gunston Hall

Have you been to Lorton's Gunston Hall - the stately home of founding father George Mason? It's a beautiful spot and there are a number of events on the plantation this month.

Sat., Sept. 14, 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.

Gunston Hall, in partnership with the Washington District Office of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, is celebrating a naturalization ceremony where 51 candidates take the oath of citizenship. The event is free, and seating is limited.

Architecture in the Afternoons Tours

Sun., Sept. 15, 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The 90-minute tour explores the Mansion’s exterior and interior, including the cellar. This tour is intended for adults and young people over 12 years old. 

Mason Family Burying Ground Talk and Tour

Sat., Sept. 21, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. 

Gunston Hall archaeologist Dave Shonyo will speak about the Mason Family Burying Ground followed by a tour. 

Gunston Hall Conversations

Sun., Sept. 22, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Hang out with historic reenactors as they portray George Mason’s family, friends and servants. The conversation will be lively - mostly politics, literature and 18th century entertainment. There will also be colonial games and other events.
