Photos of the Day: The Sub Shop

The best steak and cheese in town

The Sub Shop, 9504 Richmond Highway, is one of the best deals in town. There you'll find "Big" Lawrence Reese, a hulk of positive energy in an apron whose handshake is firm and conversation inviting. The restaurant opened on April 1.

"Our prices are way below anyone in the area for good eatin'," said Reese. "We do a great fried chicken, a spectacular tuna, New York-style pizza and the best steak and cheese you ever ate."

The menu of classic American food is great for those with light pockets. "You can get a ham sandwich, a bag of chips, a piece of cake and a drink for less than $10 - guaranteed," said Reese. "For breakfast, you'll have the best bacon and egg sandwich in the world. You'll lose your mind!"

The shop is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

My wife noticed The Sub Shop here on the patch about a month ago and we stopped by to check them out. Now we can't go more than a few days without stopping by for some great food and just to say hi. The hardest part is deciding what you want. If you get the pastrami sandwich, you probably won't want anything else on the menu... heh

Where is it? Would love to try it out! Is it down near Gunston Plaza?

Yes, it is near Gunston Plaza, but closer to the Williamsburg Square townhouses on Richmond Highway...I've been visiting the loving, hard-working Sub Shop family of Big L, Lynette, and their two strong, smart, and handsome sons for sometime now...And it IS the truth--Big L makes the best steak and cheese on the planet. However, he also cooks up delicious chicken wings, BLTs, and cheeseburgers that are to die for...If you don't patronize the Sub Shop, you're missing out on great food, great company, and an opportunity to help the Lorton community add another great restaurant to its list...Just ask Lynette or Big L--they're not shy! Tell them "Fergie" sent you!<3

The food is awesome! The service always comes with a smile. Its great to have a place like this in our area to eat, something our area has been missing! Try it once and you will be hooked. Just thinking about the pastrami makes me know what I want for dinner tonight!
