Photos of the Day: The Lorton Community Action Center

Programs help thousands of Lorton residents every year

The Lorton Community Action Center gives away 10 tons of food every month. On Tuesday, July 12, eight LCAC volunteers gave food to about 40 Lorton families at its food pantry behind the Lorton Library off Richmond Highway.

Since 1975, the nonprofit LCAC has been "dedicated to improving the quality of life for underprivileged families and children in the Lorton, Virginia area," according to its website.

"Food donations are one of LCAC’s most critical needs. LCAC partners with schools, houses of worship and civic organizations to collect food for hungry families in our area. You can help by dropping off donations of non-perishable food to LCAC Tuesday – Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m."
