Photos: Gunston Hall, Home of George Mason

Compare these to the 30-year-old photos posted earlier today!

Gunston Hall has seen a lot of changes over the years. Today, Patch found some archived photos in the Library of Congress, and decided to take a few to see how the last 30 years have fared on the home of George Mason.

was once the epicenter of a 3,500 acre wheat and tobacco plantation. Although mild today, the winter has given the grounds and house a lonely atmosphere. (Incidentally, the 18th century model inside the visitor's center is inaccurate. The British gardens were not installed at Gunston Hall until the 1950s.)

Enjoy the pictures!
