Lorton's 'Forge Brew Works' Opening Next Month

The bar is ready, the taps are in and all Lorton's 'Forge Brew Works' needs now is an occupancy permit from Fairfax County to start business.

"I really do like my beer," said Forge Brew owner Matt Rose. "We are good to go as far as local distribution to bars goes. The only worry I have is overselling the beer."

Rose and his wife, Kerri, raised $22,000 in a Kickstarter campaign and have everything in place at their space at 8532 Terminal Rd., Suite M, to craft fine beer.

The plan is to open the bar area to customers to enjoy a pint, samplers or take home growlers or kegs.

The beer menu includes these six batches:

  • Single hop IPA
  • Belgian-style pale ale
  • Roghenbier
  • Abbey ale
  • Oatmeal stout
  • Petite Saison
"That Petite Saison really hits the spot after I finish mowing the lawn," said Rose, who quit his job as an aerospace engineer to follow his passion. "Our beer is going to be in a number of Alexandria bars. I know there are good bars in Lorton, too, and we want to get in there."
