Here is how construction is impacting Lorton's roadways in the coming week.

I-95 Emergency Force Account Work

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 north between Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) to Pohick Road overpass - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday for flood clean up and repairs.
  • I-95 south between Accotink Creek to Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) - Right lane closed Monday – Thursday for flood clean up and repairs.
  • Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) south from Hassett St. to I-95 south - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday for storm damage repairs.

Lorton Rd. (Route 642) east at I-95 - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday for storm damage repairs.

All closures are weather permitting.

 BRAC/ FORT BELVOIR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT ROUTE 1
Daytime work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • Richmond Hwy (Route 1) south from Woodlawn Rd. to Fairfax County Pkwy. extension (Route 7100) - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday, and Friday 9 a.m. to noon for road widening and signal work.


 BRAC / PRELIMINARY MARK CENTER CLOSURES
Nighttime work - Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-395 north from Sanger Ave underpass to Exit 4, Seminary Rd. - Single lane closed Sunday - Wednesday nights for pavement survey.
  • I-395 reversible HOV lanes from Sanger Ave. underpass to Seminary Rd. - Single lane closed Thursday and Friday nights for pavement survey.

 BRAC / FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT
Daytime work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 south from Exit 167, Backlick Rd. to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) - Right lane closed noon to 2 p.m. Monday - Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  for road work and sign relocation.
  • Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) south to Fairfax County Pkwy extension south - Ramp narrowing Monday - Friday for barrier movement.
  • Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) north and south from Barta Rd. to Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) - Single lane closed Monday - Friday for construction in median or shoulder widening.
  • Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) east from the Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) to Accotink Creek bridge - Right lane closed Monday - Friday for the addition of a new exit ramp.
  • Hooes Rd. east and west at Barkers Ct. - Flagger operation Monday - Friday for material delivery.

All closures are weather permitting.

While much construction will take place behind concrete barriers, lane closures will be necessary at certain times and these lane closures are weather permitting. In general, lane closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Night work generally occurs between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted. There are no lane closures on holiday weekends. Business and residential communities will remain accessible.
