Lorton Lanes: June 6-12

Here's how construction is impacting Lorton's roadways in the coming week. 

I-95 WIDENING

Nighttime work - Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 north from Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) to Exit 161, Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) - Two lanes closed Tuesday- Thursday nights for bridge work, milling and paving.  The first lane will be taken at 9:30 p.m. the second will be taken by 10:30 p.m. or earlier. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
  • I-95 north to Exit 161, Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) - Ramp closed Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving and striping. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 163, Lorton Rd. (Route 642) east and follow signs to Richmond Hwy. (Route 1)
  • I-95 south to Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) east - Ramp closed Monday and Tuesday night for paving and striping. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 158, Prince William County Pkwy. (Route 3000) east, stay to the right following signs to I-95 north and then take Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) east.

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 north between the Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) and Exit 161, Richmond Hwy (Route 1) - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday for paving and bridge work.
  • I-95 south between Pohick Rd. overpass and Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for sign installation, paving and bridge work.
  • Furnace Rd. (Route 611) east or west at I-95 - Road closed, flagger to direct traffic, Tuesday - Thursday for guard rail installation

    • All closures are weather permitting.

BRAC/ FORT BELVOIR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT ROUTE 1

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • Richmond Hwy (Route 1) south from Woodlawn Rd. to Belvoir Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday 9 p.m. to noon. barrier movement and curb demolition. 

BRAC / FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted. 

  • I-95 south to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) - Ramp narrowed Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday 9 p.m. to noon for road work and sign relocation.
  • Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) north and south from Backlick Rd. to Hooes Rd. – Single lane closed Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday 9 p.m. to noon  for road work and barrier placement.
  • Rolling Rd. north and south from Fullerton Rd. to Barta Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday 9 p.m. to noon for road work.
  • Backlick Rd. north and south from Fullerton Rd. to Boudinot Dr. - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday 9 p.m. to noon  for road work.
  • Fullerton Rd. east and west, from Backlick Rd. to Boston Blvd. - Single lane and shoulder closed Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon for utility work.
  • Barta Rd. east and west at Rolling Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon for road work and drain repair.
  • Hooes Rd. east and west at Barkers Ct. - Flagger operation Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon for material delivery.
  • Heller Loop north at Fullerton Rd. - Single lane closed  Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon for road work.

All closures are weather permitting.

I-95 HOV/HOT LANES PROJECT

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 north from Franconia-Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) overpass to I-495 - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday for utility work and test bores.
  • I-95 south at Exit 166, Fairfax County Pwky. (Route 7100), and Franconia-Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) overpass - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday for utility work and test bores.
  • I-95 reversible HOV lanes at Exit 158, Prince William Pkwy. (Route 3000) to I-495 - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday for test bores.
  • I-395 north from Exit 2, Edsall Rd. (Route 648) to Exit 3, Duke St. (Route 236) - Single right lane closed Monday and Tuesday for utility work and test bores.

ABOUT LANE CLOSURES

While much construction will take place behind concrete barriers, lane closures will be necessary at certain times and these lane closures are weather permitting. In general, lane closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Night work generally occurs between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted. There are no lane closures on holiday weekends. Business and residential communities will remain accessible.
