Here's how construction is impacting Lorton's roadways in the coming week.

I-95 WIDENING 

Nighttime work - Closures occur between 9:30 p.mand 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 south between Exit 163, Lorton Rd. (Route 642) and Exit 161, Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) - Three lanes closed Friday night at 10 p.m. for roadwork. 

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 north between the Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) and Pohick Rd. overpass - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday for punch list work.
  • I-95 south between Accotink creek to Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for punch list work.
  • I-95 reversible HOV lanes from Pohick Rd. overpass to Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) - Single lane closed Monday - Friday for overhead sign punch list work.
  • Furnace Rd. (Route 611) east or west at I-95 -Road closed, flagger to direct traffic, Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge work.

    All closures are weather permitting.

 BRAC/ FORT BELVOIR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT ROUTE 1

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) south from Woodlawn Rd. to Belvoir Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Friday for road work. 
 BRAC / FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 south from Exit 167, Backlick Rd. to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  for road work and sign relocation.
  • Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) north and south from Backlick Rd. to Hooes Rd. – Single lane closed Monday - Friday for road work and barrier placement.
  • Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) east from the Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) to Accotink Creek bridge - Right lane closed Monday - Friday nights for barrier movement.
  • Rolling Rd. north and south from Fullerton Rd. to Barta Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Friday for road work.
  • Backlick Rd. north and south from Fullerton Rd. to Boudinot Dr. - Single lane closed Monday - Friday for road work.
  • Fullerton Rd. east and west, from Backlick Rd. to Boston Blvd. - Single lane and shoulder closed Monday - Friday for utility work.
  • Boudinot Dr. north to the Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) - Ramp narrowed Monday - Friday for road work.
  • Barta Rd. east and west at Rolling Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Friday for road work and drain repair.
  • Hooes Rd. east and west at Barkers Ct. - Flagger operation Monday - Friday for material delivery.
  • Heller Loop north at Fullerton Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to noon for road work.
All closures are weather permitting.

While much construction will take place behind concrete barriers, lane closures will be necessary at certain times and these lane closures are weather permitting. In general, lane closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Night work generally occurs between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted. There are no lane closures on holiday weekends.
