Lorton Healthplex Breaks Ground

First phase scheduled for completion in Dec. 2012

The long-awaited Inova Healthplex in Lorton is underway. On Wednesday, a gala ceremonial groundbreaking was held at the Workhouse Arts Center.

The facility, which will be located at the corner of Lorton Road and Sanger Street, will be built in three stages. Phase one is the $20 million construction of a two-story, 50,000 square-foot building for medical services and doctor's offices. The Healthplex will be a feeder facility for the Mount Vernon Inova Hospital.

The process began while Democrat Kate Hanley was Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Hanley said she anxiously awaits the ribbon-cutting ceremony when the Healthplex is scheduled to open in December, 2012.
