Heat Advisory for Fairfax County

Temperatures soar as Fairfax County is under a heat advisory

Temperatures will soar into the high 90's today, making it feel well over 100 with the heat index. The National Weather Service has issues a heat advisory, air quality alert, and a high pollen alert.

The Heat Advisory remains in affect until 8 pm tomorrow night. The high temperatures and humidity will create a heat index in the 100-105 degree range. Make sure to drink plenty of water and keep children and pets cool. Never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle.

The air quality level is Orange. This means there is high pollution that is unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include people suffering from asthma heart disease, other lung diseases, and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
