Here are five fun things to do in the Lorton area this weekend

It's the weekend and you're looking for fun things to do. Patch can help with our top picks for activities in the Lorton area.

  • When: Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Where: Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre, 10712 Richmond Highway, Lorton
  • What :  Enjoy dinner and swashbuckling romance as only the inimitable Gilbert & Sullivan could create. Now through Nov. 27.
  • Cost: Friday and Sunday, $41.95, Saturday, $44.95, children ages 11-15, $35, and children 10 and under, $25.
  • When: Saturday, Oct., 15, 8 a.m. to noon
  • Where: 125 Mill St., Occoquan
  • What: You only have three more Saturdays to enjoy the Occoquan Farmers Market before it closes for the season. Shop for locally grown fresh produce, baked goods and specialty items.
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 15, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Gunston Hall, 10709 Gunston Road, Lorton
  • What: Screen for artifacts, clean and mend found objects and learn basic skills with the archaeology staff at Gunston Hall, the home of George Mason. Take time for the Hunting for George Mason’s Landscape tour at 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
  • Cost: $9 for adults, $8 for 60 and over, children 6 to 18, $5, and free for children under  6 as well as Friends of Gunston Hall. Family admission is $25.
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 15, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Where: Cranford United Methodist Church, 9912 Old Colchester Road, Lorton
  • What:  Ham and oyster dinners have been served in Lewis Chapel for over 85 years so come out and see what the locals have long enjoyed: fresh oysters and other hearty food, home baked desserts and good company. This bi-annual event is being held to raise funds for the kitchen renovation, while Cranford youth servers hope for tips to finance their annual activities.
  • Cost: Suggested donation of $18 for adults and $9 for children ages 6 to 12.
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton
  • What: Bring someone special for an evening of romance, cooking, and fun. You'll work side by side with your date to make a romance-inspired menu of dishes. Make it dinner and dancing; come at 7 p.m. for a 30 minute ballroom dancing lesson. 
  • Cost: $30 per person for dinner; $5 per person for dancing.
