Here are some fun things to do in the Lorton area this weekend

It's the weekend and you're looking for fun things to do. Patch can help with our top picks for activities in the Lorton area. 

  • When: Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Rd., Lorton
  • What:  Ever wanted to take a class or workshop at the Workhouse Arts Center but have no idea where to start? This is your chance to see some of the classes “in action” and meet the instructors. Try out classes in such areas as theater, watercolor painting, pastel painting, drawing, papermaking, metalsmithing and jewelry making. Classes are free or inexpensive. Member discounts to people who sign up for classes at the open house.
  • When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Where: Nalls Produce, 7310 Beulah St., Alexandria
  • What:  Food, special sales and giveaways, a moon bounce, face painting and more.
  • Cost:  Admission to the event and moon bounce is free but bring cash for individual booth sales and food.
  • When: Saturday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Where: Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Rd., Lorton
  • What: Explore the Workhouse at night. Tour seven buildings and mingle with the artists. There will be light refreshments and music.
  • Cost: Free  
  • When: Sunday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Rd., Lorton
  • What:  Enjoy a concert in the Performance Tent by the U.S. Navy’s premier contemporary entertainment ensemble, the Cruisers, featuring eight of the Navy’s most dynamic performers.
  • Cost: Free
