Here are five fun things to do in the Lorton area this weekend

It’s the weekend and you’re looking for fun things to do. Patch can help with our top picks for activities in the Lorton area.

  • When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: South County Secondary School, 8501 Silverbrook Rd., Lorton
  • What: Cheer on the South County Stallions at the first home football game of the season.
  • Cost:  $5; pre-schoolers and senior citizens get in free
  • When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Where: Occoquan Regional Park, 9751 Ox Rd., Lorton
  • What: Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta leads a historical paddle tour between Occoquan Regional Park and the town of Occoquan. Call 703-690-2121 to confirm. 
  • Cost: Free with your own kayak. If you don’t have a kayak, you can rent one.
  • When: Saturday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Where: Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Rd., Lorton
  • What: Enjoy an afternoon of family friendly activities, including a studio artists sidewalk sale, “Flavors of the Community” food and drinks, neighborhood talent show, music, art and games. The Lorton Community Action Center will be collecting non-perishable food items.
  • Cost: Free
  • When: Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: 7134 Main St., Clifton
  • What: The Clifton Lions Club holds its Labor Day Car Show and Chili Cook-Off
  • Cost: Free
  • When: Monday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Where: Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8170 Mount Vernon Highway, Alexandria
  • What: For the past 35 years, Good Shepherd has held an International Festival on Labor Day featuring multicultural music, ethnic cuisine, local artisans, kids’ games and rides and a huge indoor yard sale.
