Here are five fun things to do in the area this weekend

It's the weekend and you're looking to have some fun. Patch can help with our picks for interesting activities in and around Lorton.   

First Night Alexandria

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 31, 1 p.m. to midnight
  • Where:  Venues in the City of Alexandria
  • What:  Alexandria holds its annual all-day New Year's Eve celebration. Events for children kick off at 1 p.m., including the annual Fun Hunt and free arts programs at the . Then, at 5 p.m., events for adults begin, featuring live performances, a multi-media countdown show, and a “ball drop”, where plastic balls will be dropped on party-goers to be redeemed later for a chance to win prizes.
  • Cost: $20 for adults; children 12 and under free with a paying adult
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 31, 6 p.m.
  • Where: Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre, 10712 Richmond Highway, Lorton
  • What : Enjoy a New Years Eve buffet and performance of “I Do, I Do,” along with dancing, champagne, party favors and a late-night breakfast buffet after the countdown.
  • Cost: $100 per person

Skinifatz New Year's Eve Party

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 31
  • Where: Skinifatz, 10712 Richmond Highway, Lorton
  • What: Dance the night away to hits from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today on the largest dance floor in the Lorton area.
  • Cost: $10, which includes party hats, party favors and champagne at midnight
  • When: Monday, Jan. 2, Noon
  • Where: George Mason University Patriot Center, 4500 Patriot Circle, Fairfax
  • What: Be a part of Mason Nation as the Patriots take on William & Mary.
  • Cost:  $16 for adults, $8 for youths.
