Flash Flood Warning Issued...Again

County still recovering from Sept. 8 storm

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Northern Virginia and the DC Metro area. Expect up two-to-four inches of heayy rainfall going into Friday evening followed by an 80 percent chance of rain all day Saturday.

Flooding is expected in the Huntington area, which was damaged by flooding on Sept. 8. "Residents in the Huntington area, especially those who live on Fenwick Drive and Arlington Terrace, are encouraged to immediately move their vehicles to higher ground. Residents should also move valuables from basements," according to the Fairfax County Emergency Information blog.

The region has had it rough the last couple of months. An earthquake, hurricane and flood damaged three Fairfax County bridges and more than 100 roadways. It will take an estimated two months to repair a portion of Lorton Road, which has an eight-mile detour.
