  1. On this day in 1793, President George Washington laid the first cornerstone of the U.S. Capitol building. 
  2. It's the 65th birthday of the U.S. Air Force. The Fairfax military retirement community is celebrating this morning with a flag raising. 
  3. Born today: June Foray, the voice of Rocky the Flying Squirrel, was born on Sept. 18, 1917. Other notable birthdays include American musician Frankie Avalon (b.1939), American actor James Gandolfini (b.1961), American actress Jada Pinkett Smith (b.1971), American cyclist Lance Armstrong (b.1971) and Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo (b.1976).
  4. The 9-5 South County Stallions Varsity Volleyball team plays Chantilly at home. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
  5. Expect patchy fog before 10 a.m., and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Wind gusts are expected to be upwards of 30 miles per hour. The high temperature will be 78 degrees and the low will be 61 degrees. The chance of rain is 100 percent, according to the National Weather Service
