1. The Welcome Stranger, the largest alluvial gold nugget ever discovered, was found on this day in 1869 in Moliagul, Victoria, Australia. The nugget measured 24 inches-by-12 inches and was worth about $3 million in today's dollars. 

2. Like to go to the movies? On Feb. 5, 1919, film legends Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and D.W. Griffith founded United Artists.

3. Famous Birthdays: American baseball legend Hank Aaron turns 80; American actress Jennifer Jason Leigh is 51; American Actress Laura Linney is 49; American singer Bobby Brown is 44 and Welsh actor Michael Sheen is 44. 

4. The weather today will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature of about 44 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The evening will be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of snow and a low temperature of about 27.
