Avengers, Gory Halloween Costumes Popular Among Children

Party City and Target are getting requests for more gory costumes and Avengers costumes.

It’s that time of year again. The time when you can put your old self to the side and take on a totally new personality or character. Halloween is right around the corner, and it’s not too early to think about what you want to be on the scariest night of the year.

Like every year, many local stores have a list of costumes for all ages. However, there are some Halloween costume ideas that seem to be more popular than others this year. Harold Grabes, general manager of the Party City on Frontier Drive, said even the kids are looking for creepier costumes this season.

“This season, they’re going more gory and haunted,” Grabes said. “For every kid that asks for something like Luigi, I get about 10 more asking for the Grim Reaper.”

Grabes said high school students will most likely be interested in full costumes and masks may be popular this year as well. This week, Grabes said he expects to see many parents coming in to buy costumes for small children. He doesn’t expect adults to start shopping for themselves until next week.

Grabes said prices for costumes at Party City range from $20 to $60 for all ages. If customers are looking for something that’s not in the store, they can check the Web site for availability.

Ryan Whalen, a sales representative at Target on Richmond Highway, said he has received a lot of calls from people who are interested in Avengers-related costumes for their children.

However, Whalen said Target does stock some of their other commonly popular Halloween costumes, such as fruit costumes, Hello Kitty, werewolves, zombies and a whole Star Wars section. Prices for costumes at Target range from $20 to $30 for all ages.

Halloween costumes are on sale in other local stores as well including:

  • K-Mart: Prices ranging from $15 to $60 for all ages
  • Walmart: Prices ranging from $10 to $40 for all ages

Very interesting article! I would only correct Rob's math--a posted speed limit of 160 kilometersRead More per hour is equal to 99 miles per hour, not 80. And 220 km/hr equals 136 mph--no wonder his knuckles were white,

Yes, did not do the conversion correctly. When on the road, I just use the 50% figure for a roughRead More estimate. 136 was not too much fun! Thanks,
