LCAC's Back-to-School Drive for 2012

For many local children and their families, the school supply list is daunting and not feasible.  LCAC is committed to collecting school supplies to ensure that the neediest children in the community have the tools they need to succeed in school. 

There are a couple ways that individuals and businesses can play a role in positively impacting a local child’s life: 1) collect and donate school supplies; 2) volunteer at donation drop off and/or supply distribution or 3) donate shoe gift cards, in $10 increments, from Rack Room or Payless Shoe Stores.

School supplies may be dropped off between 10:00 am – Noon on Friday, August 24 at the Moose Family Center at 9612 Fernedge Lane in Lorton.  If this timeframe presents a challenge, please contact LCAC at 703-339-5161, ext. 170 or email: kathy@lortonaction.org. 

Any donation – whether it is one clipboard or 20 spiral notebooks – will make a difference! 

LCAC anticipates serving 400 children this year.  Below is a listing of needed supplies and donors are encouraged to select the items that they wish to donate. 

• Backpack
• Clipboard
• Dividers (8 tab)
• Eraser (2 pack)
• Glue Stick (2 pack)
• Glue bottle (8 oz.)
• Highlighter (yellow)
• Marble Composition Notebook
• Markers – Thin and wide tipped
• Markers – Dry erase
• Notebooks – spiral, 1 subject; college and wide ruled
• Paper – loose leaf, college ruled and wide ruled
• Pencils, Colored – 12 pack
• Pencil pouch – 3 ring w/zipper
• Pocket folders
• Ruler
• School boxes – plastic, for holding supplies
• Scissors – blunt; pointed
