The 3rd Annual Lorton Spring Fling&nbsp;offers an array of activities catering to children and adults alike. Organizers say this event promises a day of laughter, creativity, and cherished memories for the entire family. "For the little ones, the Spring Fling offers a treasure trove of activities designed to spark imagination and delight," says Spring Fling Director Renee Flynn. "From face painting to the Kids' Carnival, to our popular dunk tank, there is never a dull moment at the Spring Fling!" The Barrel Train is back at $3 a ride. Artisans will showcase their talents and handcrafted wares. From handwoven textiles to intricately carved woodwork, the event's handcraft vendors offer a diverse selection of unique treasures sure to captivate visitors of all ages. "It's the perfect opportunity to get your Mother's Day and even your Father's Day shopping done," says Flynn. "Many of our vendors will also have some great graduation gifts too." A special shop just for kids allows littles to do their own gift shopping at a reasonable price. The tantalizing aroma of gourmet delights will fill the air as several food trucks will offer an array of delectable treats to satisfy every palate. From savory farm to table tacos, quesadillas and burgers to sweet confections that melt in your mouth, there is something to please even the most discerning foodie at the Spring Fling. Potomac Music is once again sponsoring the live entertainment for the outdoor event. Additional event sponsors include the Brynmor Early Education &amp; Preschool, thne Ron Kowalski Real Estate Group, State Farm agent Casey Whitmarsh, St. James, a fitness gym and sports complex and Trademasters Services. Flynn says these generous sponsorships allow organizers to offer a lot of the attractions for free or at a reduced rate. "There is no charge for admission or parking," says Flynn. "We are also very grateful for the Trademasters' Caring for Community Program which offers contributions of $25-$100 made directly to South County High School whenever community members purchase a qualifying service. Anytime someone calls for heating, plumbing or electrical services, the school earns money back." To participate in this school fundraiser, just mention South County High School when calling Trademasters at 703-644-6400 for a heating, air conditioning or plumbing service call. The Spring Fling runs from 9a-2p in the South County High parking lot on 8105 Silverbrook Road in Lorton. In a bustling area where community spirit thrives, there's no better way to showcase local talent and entrepreneurship than through the vibrant spectacle of a Commerce Carnival. The South Fairfax Chamber of Commerce (SFCC) is once again hosting this unique annual event which showcases local business. Chamber Chair Casey Whitmarsh says the Commerce Carnival is a celebration of the ingenuity and creativity that define our community's small businesses. "We enjoy offering a fun, interactive way for our member businesses to interact with the local community." Kids and adults alike are invited to participate in carnival-type games to win prizes sponsored by the Chamber's member businesses. "Rather than just handing out business cards and the occasional branded frisbee, people can spin to win a prize or play our matching card game," says Whitmarsh. "We've got all sorts of prizes from branded water bottles to umbrellas and some fun gift cards to local restaurants." The South Fairfax Chamber's Commerce Carnival offers interactive experiences and engaging activities for attendees of all ages. "There is no charge to participate," says Whitmarsh, "and everyone wins a prize!" He says events like the SFCC Commerce Carnival serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting local businesses. "By choosing to patronize the entrepreneurs and artisans who call our community home, we not only invest in the prosperity of the local area but also contribute to the preservation of its unique character and charm." Bring your family and friends to the 10th annual Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 27 from noon to 7 p.m., rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event, held at Fireman’s Field Park located at 250 South Nursery Avenue, will feature 15 live music and performances on four stages, an art exhibit, games, and other activities. There will also be more than 25 local artisan vendors and non-profit organizations, along with more than 10 food and drink vendors.&nbsp;
On the day of the festival, the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink will be transformed into the Art Hall. Inside, there will be works of art on display from local/regional artists, performances, an art demonstration, and activities. Pick up a festival scavenger hunt booklet while you’re there and complete it to win a prize! The festival will also feature games for all ages, face painting, glitter tattoos, sidewalk chalk art, and t-shirt decorating. Handcrafted jewelry, candles, wooden items, skincare items, food, drink, and more will be available for purchase. Several local organizations will have displays and information.&nbsp;
