Ten-year-old Violet is determined to show the world, not to mention the cool kids at school, just how special she is. With the help of her assistant Freddy, she sets out to break a world record, but becomes accidentally extraordinary when she's struck by lightning -- twice -- and gains control over all things electric. More About Workhouse Arts Center
The Workhouse Arts Center represents the first phase of a two-part program by the Lorton Arts Foundation.
Workhouse sits on 55 acres of land that was once home to the District of Columbia Reformatory. It opened in September 2008 and hosts 150 artists from around the region.
All told, 10 of the 30 buildings on site are open to the public.
While the Workhouse Arts Center is an example of land re-use that would make any planner proud, it is just the beginning for the Lorton Arts Foundation. In the future is a dance center, an amphitheater and rehearsal space.
