Weekend Weather: Chance of Rain with Highs Near 60 Degrees
National Weather Service says there's a 50-50 chance of rain Saturday, but it will probably be light mist.
We have some good news and some bad news regarding the weekend weather. Friday is supposed to be sunny with a high of 65 degrees and breezy. But things take a turn for the wet Saturday and Sunday.
The National Weather Service is predicting a 50 percent chance of rain on Saturday and a 40 percent chance of rain on Sunday. If it does rain, the NWS forecasts it will be quite minimal—no more than a tenth of an inch will accumulate.
As you head out over the weekend, in addition to an umbrella, you may want to grab a light jacket. Despite reaching record highs earlier this season, the metro area will see highs hovering at no more than 58 to 60 degrees this weekend, according to the weather service.
The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang blogger David Streit tends to agree with that assessment: "Sunday proves to be a tough call as some models want to hold showers over the area through the morning while others have clearing kicking in. Best bet is an early morning shower and clearing by mid-day. Clearing or not, highs manage a paltry upper 50s to lower 60s level. A clearing and chilly evening (50s) gives a great view of the brightest Venus that you will see in nearly a decade."
