Snowy Forecast: VRE Expects to Operate Regular Schedule Friday Afternoon
No train cancellations are anticipated despite the projected snow. Severe icy conditions would trigger "S Schedule."
With a wintry mix in the Friday forecast, Northern Virginians are preparing for Round 2. The Virginia Railway Express is expected to run on a regular schedule Friday afternoon despicte the forecast.
The National Weather Service predicts a 90 percent chance of snow Friday in Lorton with a high of 26 degrees.
"We don't anticipate canceling any trains," said a VRE operator. "We're sending out all our trains in the morning, and we have to get those trains back in the afternoon."
If any trains are canceled due to icy conditions, then expect the train service to run on an "S Schedule," which means that only trains marked with an "S" will run.
The Lorton VRE Station, which is located at 8990 Lorton Station Blvd., is on the Fredericksburg line, and runs from Fredericksburg to Union Station.
