This Week's Weather: Possibility of Rain Early in the Week

Northern Virginia could see a warm, damp start to the week, according to the National Weather Service. There is also a possibility for fog early Monday morning. The weather forecast predicts a 40 percent chance of rain Monday, with the possibility of seeing a thunderstorm.

A cold front brings temperatures down into the low 50s for a high on Tuesday, still warmer than the average temperature in the high 40s for December.

Sunny skies prevail on Thursday and Friday and temperatures increase with highs Thursday about 51 degrees and Friday about 55 degrees, according to the weather service.

The last shooting star cluster before New Year's is the Geminid Meteor Shower, expected to peak in the pre-dawn hours after midnight between Thursday and Saturday. The new moon guarantees a dark sky on the peak night of the Geminid shower, according to earthsky.org.

The present fog is leaning toward a "pea souper". grin. I'm glad the fog is not cold enough to make an icy foggy road!
No 40 degree winter this year, I'll bet!
