1. It's Serena Williams' 30th birthday today. Other famous Sept. 26 birthdays include writer T.S. 2. On this date in 1984, the United Kingdom agreed to hand sovereignty of Hong Kong to the Chinese government. The British took control of the territory in 1898, and the handover was conducted on June 30, 1997. Prince Charles read a farewell letter from Queen Elizabeth at the ceremony. 

3. There is a 30% chance thunderstorms this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny with a high near 79 and a low of 67. There is a 50% chance of rain tonight.

"We're going to blitz him every down if he's playing, the first 15 plays," said Redskins coach Mike Shanahan to the Associated Press. "No, obviously everybody's got a game plan for everything, but usually if a guy can play he's got a legitimate chance to do what he's capable of doing or else they couldn't have him in there."
