Police: Vehicle Crashes Cause Major Injuries

The following information was supplied by the Fairfax County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

On the above map, the addresses are block numbers, not specific home or business addresses.

The following items are from recent police updates through Dec. 12 from the Franconia and West Springfield police districts of the Fairfax County Police Department.

Vehicle Crash (blue on map), 4 p.m., 12/12/12, 10000 block of Richmond Highway, A vehicle traveling south on Richmond Highway made a left turn in front of another vehicle. The two cars crashed into each other. Both drivers were transported to the hospital. The passenger in the first vehicle was transported with life-threatening injuries. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors. The case is under investigation.

Vehicle Crash (blue on map), 7:30 p.m., 12/8/12, Ox Road/Palmer Drive, Officer responded for a serious crash where apparently one vehicle turned in front of another causing a “t-bone” crash. One person was transported with life-threatening injuries and others were taken with non life-threatening injuries. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors. The investigation continues.

In separate and unrelated incidents:

Woodbridge Man Charged with Setting Vehicle on Fire, 12/13/12, 8100 block of Richmond Highway, A Woodbridge resident has been charged with setting a tow truck on fire in Mount Vernon Wednesday

According to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, fire investigators charged Reu Cruz Ortiz, 32, of Woodbridge, with intentionally setting a vehicle on fire.

Larcenies (red on map):

  • 9400 block of Cherwek Drive - wallet from residence
  • 8000 block of Mims Street - back door from vehicle
  • 9200 block of Cardinal Forest Lane - credit card from residence
  • 8400 block of Sego Lily Court - jewelry from residence

No vehicle thefts were reported at the time.
