Lorton's Lasasni Kabob & Restaurant is a great place for lunch. The all-you-can-eat buffett is spectacular, the naan comes out steaming hot and fresh and the Gulab Jamun desert is satisfying.

"Business is getting better," said owner Atif Raja, who opened the restaurant a year-and-a-half ago. "For eight years I owned Viva Pizza and Family Restaurant on Silverbrook Road, and I figured that this is something from my country. I felt I should be making traditional food."

Raja, 31, has lived in Lorton for nearly 20 years. He's married and his three children attend Silverbrook Elementary School. "The mild winter helps business, but when the weather turns for the worse it's tough," he said. "The food is very good, and it should be. I use recipes from Pakistan."

I eat there about once a week and can attest that the food, though spicy, is really good and great bargain at $5.99 for all-you-can eat on weekdays.

I'll put this on my list of 'places to eat' the next time I am in Northern VA.
