Discussion On Department of Defense Inspector General’s report examining the Army’s plan for the BRAC move to the Mark Center
Thursday afternoon, Patch live-blogged a conference call with U.S. Rep. Jim Moran (D-8) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) following the release of the Department of Defense Inspector General’s report examining the Army’s Transportation Plan for the BRAC #133 move to the Mark Center site.

The IG report revealed the Army used flawed traffic data to project the traffic impact of moving 6,400 people to the Mark Center at the intersection of I-395 and Seminary Road in Alexandria.

Formal statement from Moran's office: “We have received today a detailed 150-page report from the DoD Inspector General, complete with responses from the Department of the Army. We will be reviewing this report carefully with an eye toward remedying the Army’s unreliable and heretofore non-responsive actions regarding the increased traffic congestion resulting from the Mark Center’s occupancy. We also have actual VDOT data documenting adverse trends at several critical intersections. With Congressman Moran’s strong leadership on this issue, we are working on legislation that will require the Army to take additional action to mitigate failing levels of service.

Thanks Don. Here's a quote from the document that you linked to. Here's what then-Governor Mark Warner said at a 2005 BRAC Commission Regional Hearing:
"Virginia and its communities, and there are many from the communities affected, are well equipped to handle the proposed expansions at Fort Belvoir, Quantico, Fort Lee, Norfolk Naval Base and Shipyard," Warner said.

He also testified that Virginia was ready for both BRAC and non-BRAC growth, and was "already working" on transportation improvements that might be needed if the BRAC recommendations are implemented (see page 12). Wonder what he was talking about and where thise umprovements are - the improvements that have gone in place specifically due to BRAC were not even conceived of, let alone planned for, until AFTER Congress implemented the BRAC law.
What do you find our congressional delegates said about transportation to the Commission, as compared to what today they would have us believe they said?
